Congratulations, Quark...
on having created a new logo. Don't laugh... apparently it was such a huge deal in Denver that they decided to tell everyone about it. Well, not everyone. Just us too-cool-for-school kids who signed up for the Quark Particles e-mail newsletter, with the following blurb (pasted verbatim):
------------------------------
New logo debuts today
Quark is announcing a new logo for the company today, which you can see on www.quark.com. As a valued customer, we wanted to inform you directly of this news.
------------------------------
we'll ignore the fact that the logo actually debuted LAST week. we'll also ignore the fact that the last logo was just designed SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. we'll also ignore the fact that the last logo was a curve-for-curve ripoff of the Scottish Arts Council
http://www.scottisharts.org.uk/
The truly hilarious part is that the Scottish Arts Council version is supposed to be a stylized lower-case "a", whereas I guess Quark thought it looked more like a stylized capital "Q". so either people got confused as to whether it was an "a" or a "Q" or a lawsuit was threatened (or maybe both), so now we're at an even NEWER logo that makes heavy with the shiny stuff and tries to look a bit more q-esque (personally, I think they should've just licensed John de Lancie's head).
But the icing on that-there cake was that, after that e-mail was sent, quark's servers crashed mightily, and are still recovering.
kinda makes you miss Gill being at the reigns, doesn't it?
