mini-rant since back from ottawa

i know i can't really claim to be a fashionista or anything, but who the HELL decided it was time to bring back turning up the collars on soft-collar shirts/polos?!? folks, that shit didn't even look cool on the cool kids in the 80's. it's even sadder when middle-aged biz-cas-fri guys on their lunch break wander around thinking they actually look hip, cool, and younger by doing so. while it is true the upturned collar distracts us from the rest of your head, so would setting your shirt on fire. just give it a friggin' rest.

and just because you see attractive young people doing it (even if you are young, too), don't mindlessly follow it thinking it will magically become your fairy godmother or something. here's a fact i learned long ago... EVERYTHING looks good on hot, young people, because they are HOT and YOUNG. so if you are going to follow suit, be 183% sure you fall into at least one of those categories. i do not assume such qualities in Yours Truly, so i have avoided such practices to date...
